Bernhard Wilming has been with egeplast since April 2023 and has served as Head of Corporate Development since July 2024.
The first 1.5 years flew by.
Bernhard, how was your start at egeplast?
I was immediately given a very warm welcome. Our HR department organizes a comprehensive onboarding process for new employees, during which I had the opportunity to get to know all egeplast departments personally. Everyone takes time for new colleagues, which naturally facilitates the start. After the first few weeks, you already have a good overview and, most importantly, know whom to approach for which topics.
How do you perceive the ege corporate culture?
We are a family business, and that is evident in our daily work. Every department collaborates towards the same goals. Of course, discussions happen, but ultimately, the entire company pulls together. Even though we have grown in recent years, we have managed to maintain a strong hands-on mentality in our culture.
What do you enjoy most about your role as Head of Corporate Development?
The unpredictable nature and the opportunity to tackle new topics together with other departments. When solving challenges, it’s often about finding the beginning of the common thread. Getting into a ‘flow’ with the team on this shared basis has always been what I enjoyed most.
How do you relax after an intense day, and what is indispensable for you in the evening?
At the end of an intense day, I always try to sit down quietly for half an hour and sort everything for the next day in writing. This clears my head for the evening. Exercise is indispensable for me in the evenings. Which type doesn’t matter – jogging, walking, or gardening are the classics.
What is essential for you on a good workday?
Collaboration with my colleagues and the feeling of having made progress. The COVID period once again highlighted how important personal contact is in daily work.
