Bernhard Wilming has been with egeplast since April 2023 and has been Head of Corporate Development since July 2024.
The first 1.5 years flew by.
Bernhard, what was your start like at egeplast?
I was given a very warm welcome right away. Our HR department organizes a comprehensive introduction for new employees, in which I was able to get to know all egeplast areas personally. Everyone takes time for new colleagues, which of course makes it easier to get started. After the first few weeks, you already have a good overview and, above all, you know who to approach for which topics.
How do you perceive the egeplast corporate culture?
We are a family business and you can feel that in everyday working life. Every department works together towards the same goals. Of course, there are discussions from time to time, but ultimately the entire company pulls together. Even though we have grown in recent years, we have been able to maintain a strong hands-on mentality in our culture.
What do you enjoy most about your role as Head of Corporate Development?
The unpredictable nature & the opportunity to tackle new topics together with other departments. When solving challenges, the first step is often to develop the beginning of the common thread. Getting into a “flow” as a team on this common basis has always been the most fun for me.
How do you relax after an intense day and what is indispensable for you in the evening?
At the end of an intense day, I always try to sit down quietly for half an hour and sort everything out in writing for the next day. This clears my head for the evening. In the evening, exercise is essential for me. Which one doesn’t matter to me – jogging, walking or gardening are the classics.
What must not be missing from a good working day for you?
The collaboration with my colleagues & the feeling of having made progress. The Covid period has once again made it clear to me how important personal contact is in everyday working life.
