120 years of pioneering spirit

Company history

For almost 120 years, egeplast has been a family-owned company – now in its fourth generation, egeplast is regarded as a pioneer of intelligent pipe systems for trenchless installation methods. egeplast was founded in 1908 by Engelbert Gröter as a jute spinning mill in Emsdetten. His initials and the location of Emsdetten still shape the company name today. In 1955, Werner Strumann switched production to sisal carpets due to rising jute imports from low-wage countries such as India and East Pakistan, today’s Bangladesh. In 1958 – fifty years after it was founded – the company began producing polyethylene pipes under the name egeplast-Kunststoffe GmbH. Until 2000, the company was based in Emsdetten. In early 2001, it moved to its current location in Greven.
