Hot mineral water in Bulgaria
For a new main supply line, the municipality of Devin installed the egeplast pipe system egeTherm® High-T for the first time early in 2017. Over a total length of more than 12 km, it now serves to transport hot water with a temperature of 70°C into the city.
Bulgaria boasts more than 700 mineral springs. In the Devin area, which is located in the Rhodope Mountains in the Southwest of Bulgaria, these are mostly hot mineral springs. These mineral waters qualify for treating and preventing a large number of conditions and are used by the local wellness and spa centres. This is also where the mineral water of the same name, “Devin”, is bottled.
The egeTherm® High-T pipe system can carry media with permanent temperatures of up to 70°C safely and provides 50 years of service life. Even short-term heat increases to a maximum of 95 °C are no problem.
The new PN16 pipelines, OD 125 mm and OD 140 mm, have now come to replace an asbestos cement pipeline from the year 1962.
