Industrial Applications

Even today, it is still common to use metal pipelines for industrial applications for historical reasons. European utility companies, however, began to primarily use plastic pipe systems made of polyethylene for constructing and rehabilitating supply pipelines from as early as in the 1960s.

Plastic pipe systems do not show corrosion and are highly resistant to a large range of chemicals and aggressive media. Plastic pipe systems ensure high operational security while being robust and at the same time flexible. Thanks to their low wall surface roughness and high hydraulic capacities, plastic pipes offer a secure and at the same time economic alternative. A combination of PE pipes with materials such as aluminium or other plastic materials allows for new applications for instance with regard to impermeability or raised pressures. Nowadays, the application areas of plastic pipes have become very diverse and are constantly expanding.
