Through precisely fitting, pre-assembled solutions, construction costs at the Leimen wastewater treatment plant could be significantly reduced. The pipeline contractor Tecoba mastered the challenges at the Leimen wastewater treatment plant, limiting the assembly to connecting the specially pre-fabricated modules from egeplast, thereby realizing time and cost advantages.
The biggest challenge in this construction project was the special location of the water network to be modernized, which runs through an ecologically important area that is particularly worthy of protection. Thanks to the successful installation of the new pipe system, it will no longer be necessary to draw over 7.5 million liters of water from an area of particular importance for nature conservation in the future.
egeplast was selected for the project for several reasons: egeplast pipe products could be used for the various installation methods employed in the project. Furthermore, the company was able to manufacture egeSlim flanges (steel-reinforced special flanges) to meet the project-specific requirements. Through close collaboration with the team in Greven, egeplast UK was also able to organize direct deliveries to the construction site. It was also important that egeplast was the only company capable of meeting Anglian Water’s tight delivery schedule and short lead times. By using mega-trailers for delivery, egeplast was also able to reduce the number of deliveries from 39 to 34 trucks, thereby significantly reducing the carbon emissions generated by transport.
