Through custom-fit, pre-assembled solutions, construction costs at the Leimen sewage treatment plant were significantly reduced. The pipeline builder Tecoba mastered the challenges at the Leimen sewage treatment plant, limiting assembly to the connection of components specially prefabricated by egeplast – thereby realizing time and cost advantages.
The greatest challenge in this construction project was the special location of the water network to be modernized, which runs through an ecologically important area in particular need of protection. Through the successful installation of the new pipe system, it will be possible in the future to avoid drawing over 7.5 million liters of water from an area that is particularly important for nature conservation.
egeplast was selected for the project for several reasons: egeplast’s pipe products could be used for the various installation methods employed within the project. Furthermore, the company was able to manufacture egeSlim flanges (special steel-reinforced flanges) to meet project-specific requirements. Through close cooperation with the team in Greven, egeplast UK was also able to organize deliveries directly to the construction site. It was also important that egeplast was the only company capable of meeting Anglian Water’s tight delivery schedule and short lead times. By using megatrailers for delivery, egeplast was also able to reduce the number of deliveries from 39 to 34 trucks, thereby significantly reducing the carbon dioxide emissions generated during transport.
