egeplast UK Ltd. successfully commissioned a PE pipe production facility in England on April 10, 2019. With this, egeplast is taking an important step towards the further internationalization of its business. Partners and customers in England will thus be supplied with pipes for drinking water and wastewater even more flexibly and at shorter notice. In addition, the production of coiled pipes up to OD 180 mm in the local market offers significant advantages in terms of freight costs and storage. With production in Doncaster in the South Yorkshire region, egeplast is simultaneously improving its environmental and energy balance and reducing potential supply risks associated with Brexit. This new step in international business was enthusiastically received by egeplast employees. A team of experienced employees from Germany and new employees in England realized the new production facility within just nine months. Together with plant manufacturer Krauss Maffei, everything was launched on schedule despite some challenges in the design and transport of the plant components.
With state-of-the-art plant technology, pre-drying of raw materials, and quality control monitored from Greven, customers now receive the consistently high product quality they expect from egeplast from this new production site. In May 2019, SKZ Cert GmbH highlighted the energy-efficient and modern design of the acquired production line during a surveillance audit of DIN EN ISO 14001 Environmental Management and DIN EN ISO 50001 Energy Management at egeplast international GmbH. The new team at egeplast UK Ltd. was intensively trained at the egeAkademie in Greven. Two employees from Germany then accompanied the start-up phase in Doncaster. After a short test phase, regular operation with the production of all relevant pipe dimensions could be started in May, and the first customers were supplied with goods manufactured to British standards. The products are distributed through the long-standing partner Westwood Pipelines in the UK.
On June 14, 2019, the project team, together with the egeplast management, celebrated the successful completion of the project and officially handed over production to Managing Director Steven Jones and his employees.
