egeplast acquires 75% of the shares in the Swedish company Extena AB. Extena is the leading provider of plastic pipes for infrastructure in Sweden. The company, founded in Norsjö in 1976, generated profitable revenue of €17 million in 2019 with approximately 40 employees. The purchase price remains confidential.
Extena benefits from the investment requirements in water and power grids in Sweden. As in Germany, renovation of drinking water networks and expansion of power grids for renewable energy is necessary. Extena is the quality leader in the segment of conventional PE pipes and has a broad customer base in trade and project business. With egeplast’s entry into Extena, the Scandinavian market receives a coordinated complete range of innovative plastic pipe systems and an extensive PE pipe portfolio with excellent availability. With Extena’s production in the heart of the plastic-oriented Scandinavian market (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark), transport is drastically reduced and the distribution of egeplast value-added pipes is intensified. In addition to egeplast, the previous owner Treac AB, a family-owned investment company from the Skelleftea region, remains with Extena as a 25% shareholder. Extena will continue to be managed unchanged by Managing Director Peter Falk.
