Time and Cost Savings Thanks to PreFab at the Leimen Wastewater Treatment Plant

Through precisely fitting, pre-assembled solutions, construction costs at the Leimen wastewater treatment plant could be significantly reduced. The pipeline contractor Tecoba mastered the challenges at the Leimen wastewater treatment plant, limiting the assembly to connecting the specially pre-fabricated modules from egeplast, thereby realizing time and cost advantages.

The pipeline construction company Tecoba had to overcome major challenges in the implementation planning for the wastewater treatment plant in Leimen. Due to the size of the construction site with many trades and large pipe dimensions, many complex installation situations normally occur, such as the integration of concrete structures, covers, dimensional changes as well as cramped space conditions and branches. Creating the entire pipeline from standard individual parts on the construction site would have involved a very large investment of time, material and personnel, and the specialist personnel would have been tied to the construction site for a long time.

Pre-fabrication of Modules by Egeplast

The solution was to divide the required pipelines into sensible modules and limit the assembly effort to connecting the modules. In close cooperation between Tecoba and egeplast technicians, a total of eight modules were planned and manufactured, which were divided into transportable and manageable components.

With the help of the available construction plans, the eight modules were drawn precisely with all the necessary components and, after approval by Tecoba, manufactured in egeplast system technology, labelled and safely packed for transport. On the construction site, direct and simple assignment of the components to the corresponding installation location was thus possible. Assembly could begin immediately after delivery and was partially completed on the same day.

“Flawless on-site production from individual components would have been virtually impossible in this quality due to the prevailing conditions (weather, dirt, cold, water, lack of special tools, etc.),” says Ralf Kaufmann, Managing Partner of Tecoba.
