egeplast will acquire an additional 25 percent stake in the Swedish company Extena AB from January 2022, as announced by TREAC AB and egeplast international GmbH. After egeplast already acquired a 75 percent stake in March 2020, the Greven-based family business will now become the full owner of Extena.
The successful development of the Swedish market and quality leader for plastic pipes, especially in the past 2 years, has clearly shown that the egeplast Group is the right partner for the Extena team to continue the company’s growth trajectory in the Scandinavian market.
Customers in Scandinavia are offered innovative PE pipe system solutions for a wide range of infrastructural applications from a single source, thanks to the combination of efficient, high-quality pipe production in Norsjö and the extensive egeplast portfolio of value-added pipe systems.
For this reason, Adam Adin, Chairman of TREAC AB, an investment company and previous owner of Extena, believes: “Our cooperation with egeplast has been first-class from day one. During the time we were co-shareholders, we recognized the potential of the business model. The fact that Extena is now fully supported by an innovative pipe system manufacturer like egeplast and is therefore fully owned by them, provides the best conditions for the next phase of growth.”
In addition to the expected attractiveness of this merger for the market, Extena and egeplast can also benefit from each other in day-to-day business, for example in the procurement of raw materials, production technology, and product development. “Extena’s 100 percent affiliation with the egeplast Group also means easier access to internal synergies and closer exchange between the companies, especially since less restrictive Covid-19 regulations now allow for more personal contact,” says Dr. Ansgar Strumann, Managing Partner of egeplast.
In the Scandinavian markets, Extena will continue to operate under the established brand name “Extena”, supplemented by the addition “part of egeplast Group”. This is intended to highlight the merger of the two established brands, which will also be reflected in their product and service offerings.
