Fibre-optic expansion is progressing very differently across Europe. While fibre-optic rollout in Northern Europe is almost complete, there is still significant demand in Central and Southern Europe.
The pandemic has further increased demand for bandwidth. Working from home, homeschooling and other internet-based applications are pushing existing networks to the limits of their capacity. While expansion measures in Germany, driven in no small part by broadband funding, are largely standardised, flexible and customised solutions are required in many other countries. Key drivers here are different network concepts, construction conditions and installation methods.
