120 Years of Pioneering Spirit

Company History

For almost 120 years, egeplast has been a family-owned company – now in its fourth generation, egeplast is considered a pioneer for intelligent pipe systems for trenchless installation methods. egeplast was founded in 1908 by Engelbert Gröter as a jute spinning mill in Emsdetten. His initials and the Emsdetten location still define the company name today. In 1955, Werner Strumann switched production to sisal carpets – due to increasing jute imports from low-wage countries India and East Pakistan, today's Bangladesh. In 1958 – fifty years after its founding – the company began producing polyethylene pipes under the name egeplast-Kunststoffe GmbH. Until 2000, the company's headquarters were in Emsdetten. In early 2001, the company relocated to its current site in Greven.
