egeplast acquires majority stake in Extena, market and quality leader for plastic pipes in Sweden

Extena

egeplast acquires a 75-percent stake in the Swedish company Extena AB. Extena is the leading provider of plastic pipes for the Swedish infrastructure. Founded in 1976 in Norsjö and with a headcount of approx. 40, the company generated EUR 17 million in profitable sales in 2019. It was agreed to keep the purchase price confidential.

Extena benefits from the current demand for investment into the water and electricity grids in Sweden. Like Germany, Sweden faces rehabilitation of the potable water networks and an expansion of the power grids for renewable energies. Extena is a quality leader in the business segment of classic PE pipes with a broad customer base in trade and project business. With egeplast now on board with Extena, the Scandinavian market will be able to benefit from a complete range of matched innovative plastic pipe systems and a comprehensive range of PE pipes with excellent availability. The Extena manufacturing facilities right in the heart of the Scandinavian market (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark) with its affinity to plastics will drastically reduce transportation and boost the distribution of egeplast added-value pipes. In addition to egeplast, the previous owner, Treac AB, a family controlled investment company from the Skelleftea region, will keep a 25-percent stake in Extena. Extena will continue to be managed by its Managing Director, Peter Falk.
