In Neckargerach, the decommissioning of the old wastewater treatment plant required the construction of an almost 9 km long pressure pipeline to the Obrigheim wastewater treatment plant. For the implementation of this challenging undertaking
egeplast SLM® DCS pipes were used.

Fully monitored through drinking water protection zones
After the continued operation of the sewage treatment plant in Neckargerach would only have been possible in the long term after extensive structural measures, the connection of the municipality of Neckargerach to the Obrigheim sewage treatment plant was decided. A challenging project, the core of which was the construction of a wastewater pressure pipe between the two sewage treatment plants. The particular challenge:
The pressure pipe had to be laid through a flood area along the Neckar River and through drinking water protection zones II+III (approx. 500 m).

The commissioned planning office SAG Ingenieure from Ulm relied on fully monitored egeplast SLM® DCS pipes for the safe diversion of wastewater, which were professionally installed by HLT Bau GmbH. The intelligent early warning system of these pipes offers two decisive advantages: Firstly, permanent leakage monitoring allows for the documentation of damage-free installation, and secondly, potential damage can be detected and remedied early during the construction phase. This ensures secure wastewater disposal in the long term.
This is particularly important because the Installation was complex due to the specific conditions along the route. In addition to the open-cut construction method used for the majority of the route, horizontal directional drilling was performed on a total of seven sections to guide the pressure pipeline under various bodies of water. Given the challenging geology of these sections, an inspection for potential damage during the pulling-in process offered a significant advantage. This allows damage to be repaired cost-effectively, quickly, and without complications. Moreover, thanks to this technology, environmental damage is avoided not only during the construction phase but also permanently, as the system enables long-term monitoring and secure wastewater disposal.

Maintenance & cleaning
For easy maintenance and cleaning of the pipe during operation, various SLM® DCS pigging stations that can be operated from the terrain surface were installed. These are operator-friendly, fast, clean, can be operated from the terrain surface and ensure the cleaning of the pipeline during operation. As a result, the flow rate of the pipe remains unimpaired and it can be operated economically from the start and permanently.
