egeplast to become the 100‐percent owner of Extena

TREAC AB and egeplast international GmbH are pleased to announce that egeplast will acquire another 25 percent of the shares in Extena AB as of January 2022. Following its acquisition of a 75‐percent share in Extena previously, in March 2020, egeplast is now about to become the 100 percent owner of Extena AB. Extena’s successful development in the last 5 years, and especially in the last 2 years, has clearly shown that the egeplast Group is the right home for the Extena team to continue the company’s growth path in the Nordic market.

The resulting combination of an efficient high‐quality pipe production in Norsjö and the large egeplast portfolio of value‐added pipe systems provides Nordic customers with single‐source PE pipe system solutions for all infrastructure‐related purposes. This is why Adam Adin, chairman of TREAC, believes, “Our cooperation with egeplast has been first‐class from day one, and during our period of co‐ownership we have seen the potential of the business model. For Extena to be fully supported by, and hence fully owned by, an innovative pipe system manufacturer like egeplast will provide the best conditions for the next growth phase.”

In addition to the appeal that this combination can be expected to have for the market, Extena and egeplast can also benefit from each other in daily operations, for instance in the context of procurement of raw materials, production technology and product development. “Extena being a 100‐percent part of the egeplast Group also allows for easier access to internal synergies and for a closer exchange between the companies, especially as less limiting Covid‐19 restrictions now allow for more personal contact”, says Dr. Ansgar Strumann, Shareholder and Managing Director of egeplast.

In the Nordic markets, Extena will continue to use the established “Extena” brand complemented by “part of egeplast Group” to indicate that these two well‐established brands have joined forces, which the market thus can expect to be reflected in their range of products and services.
