New culvert under the Oder-Havel Canal in Oranienburg

To secure supply to and disposal from Oranienburg’s Lehnitz district, a rapidly evolving district town, the municipal utilities had no less than ten pipelines undercross the Oder-Havel-Canal. The culvert was installed by means of the horizontal drilling method and costed around half a million euros including all connections.

For gas supply, a new high-pressure gas pipeline withstanding operating pressures of up to 16 bar was inserted. Here, the egeplast HexelOne® SLM high-pressure pipe system was used, a selfreinforced high-pressure pipe made of PE that has been certified by the DVGW (German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water). Its reinforcement permits operating pressures of 16 bar for gas, and 30 bar for water. Thanks to its protective coating and interior layer made of PE 100-RC, it can also be used for trenchless installation. This way, high-pressure pipes can also benefit from the advantages associated with flexible polyethylene plastic pipes used for trenchless installation. In view of the needsoriented delivery lengths of up to 145 m in coiled bundles, only a single pipe connection was required in the culvert area.
